Indonesia's Porn Criminalization Leads to Arrests After 'Enak Yank' Video Goes Viral

JAMBI, Indonesia — Indonesian police have arrested two suspects charged with making a porn video that went viral in the country, where all adult content is criminalized.

Reza Khomeini, the acting head of the Jambi Police’s Sub-Directorate of Cyber Crime, identified the suspects only by their initials, K. N. and M. A. They are accused of producing a sex video, a segment of which was widely distributed via social media under the title “Enak Yank,” which translates as “It’s Delicious, Bro.”

According to local press reports, the two suspects were arrested after a lengthy interrogation and will be held for 20 days at the Jambi Police Headquarters detention center.

The suspects were summoned by investigators last month to answer questions about the incident, but did not show up. When a second summons was issued for this week, police reached out to their parents and their attorneys, warning them about the arrest warrants.

The suspects are being charged with several statute violations for allegedly producing the “Enak Yank” content, which could result in a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.

In countries that criminalize adult content — much as the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 proposes to do in the U.S. — such arrests are common, though the laws tend to be selectively enforced.

As XBIZ reported last year, Indonesia — including Bali, a popular destination for tourists, expats and influencers — has become notorious for arrests of both locals and foreigners for making and sharing adult content online, which is forbidden under the country’s harsh 2008 obscenity statute, Law 44.

“The country’s ambiguous pornography laws have led to the jailing of people over adult content and leaked sex tapes, including celebrities,” news site Coconuts Bali explained last year, when an Instagram influencer was detained for alleged indecent content. “Even so, some Indonesians still break the law, with a number of content makers active on adult platforms such as OnlyFans, which is popular among sex workers.”
